Adventures in Publishing
- by Brand Perfect – 17 Jan 2013

Where does the time go? It feels like yesterday we were at the RSA, discussing the travails of the retail industry and getting our hands dirty with an excellent Master Class set by retail charity TRAID. Now it's only three weeks away from our New York expedition, as we prepare to hit the Big Apple with our flagship publishing event at Condé Nast on February 8.
So what can you expect on the day?

After an introduction from the day's Chair, graphic designer and film-maker Doug Wilson, Katrina Dodd (above), of Brand Perfect partners Contagious, has written a fantastic state-of-play report on the entire publishing industry, which she'll be presenting in her own inimitable style. (Guests will also be able to take a printed copy of the report away with them. Get a digital version of the one we did on Retail if you want to check out the quality we're talking about here.)
Next, Cameron Connors, Executive Director of the Condé Nast Studio, and Wyatt Mitchell, Creative Director of the New Yorker magazine, will be talking about the inventive solutions the company has been providing for the brands that advertise to its readerships.

After that, American Express OPEN's Jenn Eldin will talk about how the company created a huge online community and readership around its own branded content.
And before lunch, all they day's guests will be broken down into groups to take part in one of our acclaimed Master Classes. The beneficiary this time round will be the International Network of Street Papers (INSP), an NGO that supports and develops a network of independent media enterprises that exist to provide employment and help to some of the world's poorest people. INSP's Maree Aldam will be on hand to explain the brief and answer any questions about the organisation and its aims.
After working on the brief, guests will enjoy lunch at Condé's executive dining room, designed by Frank Gehry, after which it will be time to present the work prepared during the Master Class session.
How can you not get excited about all of that? There are a few limited spots still available. UPDATE: Very few spaces are remaining for this event. If you want to come along, you'll need to be quick. If you're interested in attending, you need to go here and press on the big red button that says BOOK.
